I had the good fortune of meeting an excellent person yesterday. As we got to know each other, he started sharing a lot of things about his family. This man was not only an excellent father of 3 lovely girls but also an adorable husband to his wife for the past 32 years!
Two of his children have the same chronic health condition. As he was explaining the pains and the success his children have had so far in their lives, he suddenly remembered something which was very special.
On a particularly difficult day for his youngest daughter, he told her, "My child, if only I could take your disease, I will do so in no time."
His daughter's to him was, "If only I could give this disease to you dad, I will not want to do so. I do not want anybody else to go through what I have gone through with my disease."
Sometimes the tough times we have in our lives bring our true inner self. These situations in our life make us better people.

My Grandmother had this same philosphy and often told me, "You and I stand side by side with our troubles hanging like washing on the line. When it is all said and done, you will still take yours and I will take mine." Troubles are tailor-made for each of us with the intent to make us stronger and help us overcome a weakness. What we do with each of them helps to develop our character, hopefully, for the better.
